Lil' G Week 28

Week 28 (4/13-19/14)

Yay for a much better week!! I told work (both places) that I just couldn't keep up with the pace I was going and they were very understanding. So, I'm starting to cut back so I can breathe in this LAST TRIMESTER!! Yep! I'm officially in my 3rd trimester!! Where did the time go?? The first trimester felt like 10, the second (well the second half of it) felt like nothing, now lets just pray this last one goes as smoothly as the second but not quite as fast. I will admit, I was hoping for that "switch" from first to second trimester to come on quickly since the first was miserable!!... which it didn't :(... but it sure did from the second to third! I swear within 24 hours I went from completely normal to all 7 dwarfs rolled into one. First of all, hungry... Adam and I were making a trip to the grocery store, and without even asking I just turned us into a Thai restaurant before we even made it to the store because I HAD TO HAVE FOOD NOW! My appetite has been insatiable. I've also been tired, weepy and moody. Yay! At least I'm not sick!

I left for Dallas on Thursday and it felt so good to be "home". I made a little visit to the college where I used to teach... I REALLY miss it. Had dinner with some friends Thursday night. Then, had to wake up extra early Friday morning and drive to Fort Worth to meet my father in law at the DPS office because (get this), after speaking to 5 different people about renewing my license and getting 5 different asinine answers the verdict was that I had to go to a DPS station WITH someone who lives in Texas AND has my last name so they could sign an affidavit in front of them saying I am a Texas "resident". Well guess what... they didn't even look at Jerry. Go figure. Luckily, Jerry found a pretty sweet new DPS office and it only took us 15 minutes so he was impressed with our little field trip. After that, I did a little Dallas shopping (my happy place), then made a visit to two of the most adorable little newborn boys (aka 2 of Viv's suitors). R: Porter (2 months) and L: Owen (3 days):

THEN it was the day of my shower! It turned out SO amazing!

The beautiful hostesses:

The baby bumps (aka me and 2 of my sweet friends carrying 2 more of Viv's little suitors ;)

My mom, mother in law, Nonie and aunts all made a special trip!

Viv was SO spoiled with gifts, clothes and books! I just have to share this one ;)

Due Date: 7/7/14!!

The baby is the size of: an eggplant!! 13.6-14.8in and 1.5-2.2lbs
"Your baby is settling into the proper position for birth, with his head facing downward (toward your body's nearest exit!). Your little work in progress is now about 2.5 pounds and almost 16 inches long. He's busy adding new skills such as blinking to an already impressive repertoire of tricks like coughing, sucking, hiccuping, and taking practice breaths. Your baby's sleep now includes the REM (rapid eye movement) phase — and that means he could be dreaming already (what do you suppose he's dreaming about?)." http://www.whattoexpect.com/pregnancy/week-by-week/week-28.aspx

Gender: It's a girl!! And we decided on a name!! Later post about that!

Symptoms: Much better! I have a lot more energy, but still nauseous most days. I also still have the sinusitis (constant stuffy nose).. especially when I eat?? Frequent headaches, hip/joint pain, and I pee all the time! like I have to pee after I pee... So, needless to say with the hip pain and peeing, I don't get much sleep either!
She moves all of the time! I will say, those kicks used to be cute, but it's starting to get painful! She's starting to really get under my ribs and kick me in the stomach when I eat... not fun, but I do rely on those kicks to remind me she's ok so keep it coming! Although, she is a stubborn little thing! Every time I try and let Adam see or feel her moving, she immediately stops. Little brat lol! Although, it has been nice because when she's really going crazy and making me sick, I can just have him hold my belly and make her stop.... I'm starting to think Adam will be doing a lot of soothing ;).
I also mentioned the crazy stretching feeling I get when I walk farther than a quarter mile (ridiculous I know) or go up stairs. It's different from round ligament pain (I have that too).... it feels like a ton of pressure and my belly is just going to pop! and of course it goes away when I rest. I still haven't bought my maternity belt... I just can't put another layer around my belly yet. I started getting leg cramps at night.. fun! And it's starting to become VERY difficult to bend over or get comfortable.
Viv also started hiccuping... very interesting!!

Sleep: pretty much impossible! I get up every 2 hours to pee and reposition. My snoogle is my best friend right now though!!

Cravings What I can stomach: Like I said, the nausea is still around so food isn’t always appetizing, but at least my appetite is back! I'm loving OJ, kind bars, tea, salads, sandwiches, smoothies and FRUIT! basically anything cold, so ice cream is fair game too! Obviously I was loving Thai this week, and I got my fill of TEX-MEX!! Yay queso!!!

Food Aversions: Still can’t do bell peppers, onion, mushrooms, whole tomatoes or certain kinds of meat.

Total Weight Gain: 13lbs and 9 inches around my waist! Lil G is growing! and I'm beginning to feel large and in charge!

Activity: I’ve brought my “daily 300’s” down to “daily 150-200’s” (my hips aren’t handling squats and lunges too well), and I brought by my Turbo Jam DVD's for some leg/butt/arm workouts. Also walking Lola when I can.

Lil' G Week 27

Week 27 (4/6-12/14)

Well, not to be a debbie downer, but this week was pretty sucky too... Adam left early Sunday morning for a week long TDY. So, I got to spend my birthday (Monday) working and alone. Several of my awesome friends offered to spend my birthday with me, but I apparently can't say no to work so I worked all day and then came home and ate ice cream cake with Lola (who also had a birthday that day!). Yay 30! The rest of the week was pretty much the same... work and ice cream cake. I was honestly in tears by Friday because I was so overwhelmed with work, and it seemed like EVERYTHING that could go wrong did! For instance, I found out that even though I sent my Texas drivers license renewal packet off in early March, they didn't process it until April (PS it expired on my birthday) AND they suddenly have a new policy (which stated in April) that military spouses can no longer renew out of state unless they can show proof of Texas residency (ummm that's the whole point of an 'out of state renewal application'... we don't currently reside there!). So I went round and round with them to get nowhere. Ok, I'm going to stop before I lose it again. Lets just say it didn't end well. Neither did anything else I dealt with this week.
The Birthday Girls!:

Meanwhile, Adam was in Ohio spending every night out and having the time of his life. I asked him why he was going out when he was obviously exhausted and just plain over it, and he said he "didn't want to miss out on anything". I asked what he could possibly "miss out" on in Ohio??! Well, I had to eat my words because that night he met Dave Chappelle...

Adam thankfully got home on Friday night and took me out to dinner where I just cried over my awful week... literally.... bless him.
The weekend was much better. We went to the Davis-Monthan Air Show and had a great time! Adam worked the show on Sunday and I swear his ego grew about 36 inches after all the pictures and autographs. Very cute.

Due Date: 7/7/14!!

The baby is the size of: a rutabaga!! 13.6-14.8in and 1.5-2.2lbs
"For a baby, it's time to trade in the old crown-to-rump measurement for a new head-to-toe standard. So what are your baby’s stats this week (which, coincidentally, is the end of the second trimester)? Fifteen inches — more than a foot long — and triple (or even quadruple) what it was in week 12. His weight is creeping up the charts as well, coming in at just over two pounds. More big news: Your baby may recognize your voice by now, so feel free to serenade your belly (start learning those lullabies!)." http://www.whattoexpect.com/pregnancy/week-by-week/week-27.aspx#

Lil' G Week 26

Week 26 (3/30-4/5/14)

I'll just say it.... This week SUCKED! Lots of work (maybe too much.. I'm thinking I need to start cutting back), stomach flu/food poisoning??, and a ruined surprise party :(.

So I worked everyday this week (not my norm), plus I started helping out with clinicals= EARLY mornings (not fun, BUT I did miss the patients and students so it was fun while I was there). I made it through the week by looking forward to Friday night.... Adam made plans to go to a new restaurant that looked SUPER yummy. I had my meal planned out by Wednesday night (and I still want it, so it will happen when he gets home next week). I knew it was probably an early birthday celebration since he would be out of town for my actual birthday, BUT I had no clue how big of a celebration... Well... Friday rolled around and I woke up exhausted and not feeling so hot. Thinking I was just exhausted from a busy week I cancelled my lunch plans and rested until my 1pm meeting. Sitting at my meeting I felt like I had the flu.... aches, chills, nausea (and I'm pretty sure I would have lost my breakfast but I took zofran that morning to curb all the nausea) fun. By the time I got home I felt AWFUL. The only thing that helped was lying completely still! Even talking or readjusting sent me running for the toilet. That's when it started feeling like food poisoning. My stomach was in knots and baby girls constant kicking did NOT help. At about 5:30 Adam came in and started showering (please note he was aware of all of this going on)... did he really think I was going to be able to make it out to dinner?? yep. he sure did. I had to break the news that it wasn't happening, and that's when he informed me there were 14 other people on their way there to celebrate my 30th. NOOOOO!!! :( I'm still so depressed that I missed out on that. Great food (the 8 who still went confirmed), great people, and my last chance to celebrate my birthday BIG since I most likely won't want to after Lil' G gets here.... I actually wasn't even thinking about it this year. SO bummed!

At least I got my yummy ice cream cake :):

And we were able to celebrate a very sweet little girls first birthday on Saturday!

And (side note) apparently Lola is not a fan of me taking baths... she hates that she can't get in lol:

Due Date: 7/7/14!!

The baby is the size of: a head of lettuce!! 13.6-14.8in and 1.5-2.2lbs
"What's up with your baby? She now weighs a full two pounds and measures nine-plus inches. And this week, her eyes, which until now were developing under fused eyelids, start to open. Of course, there's not much to see in there, but if your baby spots a bright light (or hears a loud noise) near your belly, you may notice an increase in fetal activity. (“Hey, I'm in here, Mommy! Where’s the party!”) What accounts for that response? Her brain is more developed and sophisticated." http://www.whattoexpect.com/pregnancy/week-by-week/week-26.aspx

I'm loving OJ, kind bars, tea, salads, sandwiches, smoothies and FRUIT! basically anything cold, so ice cream is fair game too! I've been loving soup and pita chips with hummus this week too. AND I started craving hot dogs.. disgusting, but sounds fab for some reason.

Food Aversions: Still can’t do bell peppers (I literally ate around the tiny pieces of red peppers in my hummus...), onion, mushrooms, whole tomatoes or certain kinds of meat.

Total Weight Gain: 11lbs and 7 inches around my waist!

Lil' G Week 25

Week 25 (3/23-29/14)

Another great week! It's crazy how fast time is going by! I felt like the first 20 weeks dragged on forever, and now time is going too fast! I need it to slow down... I have too much to do before baby girl gets here, and quite frankly I like having her safe and sound in my belly. Although I can't wait to meet her. I just can't be satisfied ;). She has at least another 13 weeks to bake, so I guess I have time. I'll stop...

So this week was pretty busy. The first half was full of work and the last was full of play! We drove to Vegas for Kelly's BIG 3-0!! We had so much fun and it was so great to see Brelly (the newly engaged!! Brett and Kelly) and the McKenzies. We stayed at The Mirage and did a lot of eating, shopping, and laying by the pool. My kind of weekend! We also had a scavenger hunt that no one really finished... it was really fun and well planned by the magnificent Jonathan Taylor Gandy, but we're too old for all that business lol. So, if you saw me post a bunch of rando pictures on instagram, that's why.
Oh, and this little lady growing inside me definitely takes after her dad... every time Michael Jackson started playing she would go nuts! This should be fun! lol

The whole gang:

Have to laugh...

 Me and the Birthday Girl!!

Cradam  & Brelly (and the old guys finger) after Margaritaville (I SO wanted a margarita, water with lime had to do ;):

Adam made sure he drank enough for the both of us (so thoughtful):

We celebrated my birthday a little early at a yummy Brazilian steakhouse!

At the Bellagio Fountain:

Due Date: 7/7/14!!

The baby is the size of: a cauliflower!! 13.6in and 1.5lbs
"Your baby is growing by leaps and bounds, reaching nine inches in length and passing the pound and a half mark. Under his skin, capillaries are forming and filling with blood and by week's end, air sacs (also lined with capillaries) will develop in his lungs, getting them ready for that first breath. Mind you, those lungs aren't ready for prime time just yet — but they are developing surfactant, a substance that will help them expand after birth. And speaking of breathing, your baby's tiny nostrils, which have been plugged up until now, are starting to open, and his vocal chords are getting ready to roar." http://www.whattoexpect.com/pregnancy/week-by-week/week-25.aspx
