Lil' G Week 37

Week 37 (6/15-21/14)

We're full term!! So you can come any day now baby Viv... although I'd like you to bake for just a little longer! And so would your Dad... he has 4 flights left before he's all done with the B course, and we need him around as much as possible. Although, I know my body (and yours) wouldn't mind if you came a little early.

The week started off with Father's Day! We gave Adam a "Daddy Survival Kit" complete with a surgical gown, mask and gloves (for diaper changes), monster energy drink, tylenol, ear plugs, hand sanitizer, kleenex,  snacks, beer, a gift card to Home Depot, and his current fave book "What Does the Fox Say". He also received a card from Lola and a book that Viv and I will use from now on to tell him how much we love him with drawings, notes and thoughts.

I also agreed to go see the movie "Edge of Tomorrow" with him... It was ok, but I wasn't a fan.. If you want to see it, you could probably watch the first 10 and last 30 minutes and be fine! I must have wanted to sabotage this movie going experience because I also gave him a trip to the ER on the way to see it...

As we were walking up to the movie, I tripped and fell on my left knee (HARD!!)... I heard a crack (it must have been the sidewalk). Let's just say it was NOT a graceful fall. Adam was about 20 feet in front of me racing to get tickets and said when he heard me fall he immediately thought "oh that's some fat-ass" and then turned around and realized it was me... so sweet. He rushed to my side as 4 other men helped me up. I insisted I was fine so we tried to go see the movie, but it was sold out. When we got back in he car, I lifted my dress and inspected my knee... it did NOT look (or feel) good. I'm usually not quick to go to the ER, but after that fall and a nudge from Adam I thought it may be a good idea. Plus I was going to be pissed if I broke my knee and couldn't labor! We needed to get this figured out asap! After an hour and a half in the ER, it was determined that it wasn't broken. Thank the lord! The doc did say that if it wasn't for all the pregnancy hormones (that relax my ligaments and bones) I probably would have broken it... yay me! Now that I know this relaxin hormone is doing its job, labor should be a breeze! Oh, and I have to add... Adam sat in the x-ray room with me and I noticed he was holding his hands behind his shield.. turns out he was "protecting his hands AND watch!?".. special. We were able to catch the movie after the quick ER trip.. not such a bad Father's Day after all, huh?

The rest of the week was fairly uneventful. I finished my last day at UofA... very bittersweet... I love my job, but I have a new one coming soon and I need to get a little rest in before that starts ;). They had a sweet little going away part for me too. I went back to the doc... 1cm, 60% effaced, -1 station... progress but we still have a ways to go! I've been loading up on the red raspberry leaf tea and walking as much as possible to get it going a little.

We finished the week with a dinner at Adam's weapons officer's house. Now that was eventful. Apparently Adam thought it was a good idea to get wasted.. yes, at a dinner party, at 4:30 pm. I still don't know how he can make an ass out of himself (barking at the dog and throwing bread up the stairs to it...) and everyone still thinks he's adorable!? I didn't find it very cute, so I waited until he was good and asleep (we were home by 8) and woke him to tell him I was in labor... he bought it and it was hilarious! He wasn't too amused when I told him it was a joke, but he did agree it was probably one of the top 5 best pranks I've pulled. That'll teach him!
Due Date: 7/7/14!! I was beginning to think she was coming sooner than later.. but not so sure about that anymore...

The baby is the size of: a winter melon. 18.9-20.9in and 6.2-9.2 lbs
"Congratulations! You've got what is officially considered a full-term baby, even with three weeks to go. That doesn't mean she's finished growing — in fact, she's still packing on about a half pound a week (at this age, the average fetus weighs about 6.5 pounds). That makes it a little crowded in your uterus, so she’s probably not kicking as much, though she’s probably stretching, rolling a bit, and wiggling (all of which you’ll be able to feel!). Right now, your little superstar is busy rehearsing for her big debut, inhaling and exhaling amniotic fluid (to get the lungs ready for that first breath), sucking her thumb (to prepare for that first suckle of milk), blinking, and turning from side to side." http://www.whattoexpect.com/pregnancy/week-by-week/week-37.aspx

Gender: It's a girl!!

Symptoms: I'm losing my energy. I still have the sinusitis (constant stuffy nose).. especially when I eat?? Frequent headaches, hip/joint pain, and I pee all the time! like I have to pee after I pee... So, needless to say with the hip pain and peeing, I don't get much sleep either! She moves all of the time and there's not a whole lot of room in there anymore so it feels pretty crazy! It's VERY difficult to bend over or get comfortable. I'm ALWAYS hot, tired and hungry, and "Pregnancy Brain" is now SERIOUSLY no joke! The nesting has settled in full force. And I'm really starting to get anxious/nervous. Will Viv be ok? How will labor go? All the "what ifs" are racing through my head!

Sleep: pretty much impossible! I get up every 1-2 hours to pee and reposition. My snoogle is my best friend right now though!!

Cravings: I'm loving lara bars, tea, salads, sandwiches, smoothies and FRUIT, and ice cream! Basically anything cold. And this week was all about

Food Aversions: STILL can’t do bell peppers, onion, mushrooms, whole tomatoes or certain kinds of meat (especially chicken).

Total Weight Gain: 19lbs and 11.5 inches around my waist! Lil G is growing! and I'm beginning to feel large and in charge!

Activity: Going from a sitting to standing position is about all the activity I can handle these days.
